How Managed Services Providers Can Market Their SOC Services

Managed Services Providers Security

If you’re a managed services provider you’ve probably felt the pressure or need to offer a security operations center (SOC) to your product offerings. Whether you’re going to set up an internal SOC, white label a solution or fully outsource your SOC, you need to design a marketing strategy. But first, let’s first understand what an SOC is.

What Is an SOC?

A security operations center (SOC) is a centralized facility or team responsible for monitoring, detecting and responding to cybersecurity incidents and threats in an organization’s IT environment. The primary purpose of the SOC is to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information systems and data.

SOCs play a crucial role in modern cybersecurity, especially for organizations dealing with large volumes of sensitive data or those frequently targeted by cyber threats. They provide a proactive and reactive defense strategy, helping to reduce the impact of security incidents and protect an organization’s digital assets. Most SOCs are active 24/7/365, which is why some MSPs outsource or white label the service.

Marketing an SOC

There are three common ways that managed services providers market their SOC; digital marketing, print marketing and paid marketing.

Digital Marketing

Digital marketing is probably the most obvious way to market an SOC. It starts with creating a site on your page describing your SOC offer. The page must include the relevant SEO keywords in order to rank and ultimately get traffic to your site.

Along with the rest of your website, you’ll want to make sure to have strong calls to action in place to ensure the page will convert visitors to leads. Then, promote your new service in your email marketing, social media, press releases and in your QBRs.

Print Marketing

It’s true that people find much of their information online. Still, although it may sound counterintuitive, updating all your printed materials including brochures, proposals and flyers is an important step. As potential clients are comparing IT vendors, missing your 24/7/365 SOC on your proposal has the potential to cost you valuable opportunities.

Paid Marketing

Last, but not least is paid or pay-per-click advertising. We know that SEO takes time, but a paid campaign is a quick way to drive traffic to your new SOC web page. Having the right search keywords, ad copy and landing page will give you the most bang for your buck. Depending on your campaign and budget, SOC information could be added to current ads or set up as the topic for a new ad campaign.
